Ever wanted to own a Warhol? Now is your chance.
From August 7-9, 212 Gallery in Aspen, Colo., in conjunction with Christie’s Private Sales, is hosting a free pop-up exhibition featuring more than 20 rarely seen paintings, photographs, prints, and works on paper by the enigmatic pop artist. Prices range from $2,000 – $120,000, and proceeds will benefit grant-making programs at The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, in New York.
Highlights include a 1986 limited-edition screenprint of Sitting Bull that was originally to be a part of the artist’s Cowboys and Indians portfolio, as well as a rare 1978 black screenprint on paper of Andy’s unforgettable muse, Marilyn Monroe. In addition, viewers can spy a racy 1983 colored screenprint, Love, that Andy made the same year Robert Mapplethorpe took his portrait.
